Faith Formation is bringing people into a closer relationship with God through educational and experiential opportunities for encounter. This can take the form of classes, retreats, preparation for sacraments or just the opportunity to interact with other Catholics.

In the Diocese of Jackson, faith formation is formally directed through the Department of Formational Ministries which includes, the Office of Education including our Catholic schools; the Office of Faith Formation, which trains parish catechists and organizes opportunities for specific faith communities; the Office of Black Catholic Ministries, recognizing and celebrating the gifts of African American Catholics as well as offering opportunities for continued faith development; Campus Ministry, which helps young people making the transition to adulthood while they are at college; the Office of Hispanic Ministries serving the growing Hispanic community and the Office of Youth Ministry, looking after young people throughout the diocese. On the parish level catechists help lead the way to a deeper, more abundant faith.
