Catholic Charities disaster response teams will leave Thursday morning to assess the needs in Tupelo and Lousiville after tornadoes struck both communities Monday night. The teams typically wait 72 hours before going to a disaster area so first responders have time to secure debris and make sure the area is safe. Catholic Charities is asking for monetary donations via a link on www.catholiccharitiesjackson.org or they can be sent directly to 200 North Congress St., Jackson, MS 39201.
The agency also needs volunteers to help assess damage in Warren, Rankin and Lowndes counties. Training is available. Call 601-355-8634 for more information.
