Each year the Catholic Diocese of Jackson and the Office of Family Ministry celebrate “significant” anniversaries for couples in the Diocese by hosting World Marriage Day. World Marriage Day honors husband and wife as the foundation of the family – the basic unit of society. It salutes the beauty of their faithfulness, sacrifice, and joy in daily married life. In 2024, we hosted two World Marriage Day celebrations: one at St. Peter's in Jackson and one in St. James in Tupelo.

World Marriage Day is celebrated with a Mass, followed by a reception to honor all married couples who will be celebrating their 25th, 50th, 60th or any significant anniversary that year. The Mass is celebrated by Bishop Jospeh R. Kopacz.
