As lawmakers for the first time seriously consider Medicaid expansion, which experts say would provide health insurance to tens of thousands of Mississippians and save the state’s hospitals millions each year, many faith leaders, including Bishop Joseph Kopacz and members of Working Together Mississippi are watching closely.
Working Together Mississippi is preparing for "Full Expansion Day" at the Capitol, on Tuesday, April 16.
Below is a schedule for the 16th:
9:00 to 9:30 Arrive and Park at Mt. Helm MB Church (300 Church St. Jackson) and Christ Temple Church of Christ Holiness (845 N. Lamar)
9:30 to 9:50 Briefing for “Full Expansion Day”
9:50 to 10:00 Travel to the Capitol (Walkable, but there will be transportation for those who need it.)
10:30 to 11:15 Appear in the galleries of both chambers, meet with Senators and Representatives (Contact your elected officials to set these up ahead of time)
11:15 to 11:30 Travel back to Mt. Helm and Christ Temple (transportation available if needed)
11:30 to 12:30 Lunch (provided)
12:30 to 12:50 Travel back to south Capitol steps
1:00 to 2:00Full Expansion Rally on South Capitol Steps
2:30 For those not traveling home, evaluation of the day at Mt. Helm
