Tutwiler Community Education Center
The Tutwiler Community Education Center, founded by Sister Maureen Delaney (thanks to Sister Anne Brooks), provides programs and events in response to the hopes and dreams of the people of Tutwiler and the surrounding areas so that they may be filled with pride and hope for themselves and their community. It is its own 501c-3.
Jonestown Family Center
The purpose of Jonestown Family Center for Education and Wellness is to improve the general welfare of the people in Jonestown and the surrounding area. The Family Center strives to increase educational and health opportunities through its programs. It was founded by Sister Teresa Shields, SNJM, but is now a separate 501c-3.
St. Gabriel Mercy Center
St. Gabriel Mercy Center began in 1999, after St. Gabriel Catholic School closed. The Sisters of Mercy and the Franciscan Sisters of Charity both helped run the center before it became a separate 501c-3. The Mercy Center is located in Bolivar County in the community of Mound Bayou, Mississippi. It is strategically located to serve the communities of Mound Bayou, Shelby, Winstonville, Renova, Merigold, Duncan and Cleveland, all of which are clustered along Highway 61 to the north and south of St. Gabriel Mercy Center.
Sacred Heart Southern Missions
Sacred Heart Southern Missions staffs and funds the programs and work of two Catholic elementary schools, eight Catholic social service offices and we staff a housing program including Dehon Village with 38 single family homes for low-income families whose rent is subsidized by Sacred Heart Southern Missions. Our Social Services department includes an active volunteer program . Our priests serve six widely scattered parishes in an area that is only two per cent Catholic.
