The tornadoes that hit our state on March 24 caused much destruction to some of our small rural Mississippi towns. Parishes in the Diocese of Jackson will be having a second collections in the coming weeks to help those who have been affected by these storms.
In addition to the second collection, gifts can also be made online by clicking the donate button above or below this section.
Donations will be given to Catholic Charities of Jackson for use by their Disaster Response team. Charities deployed first thing Saturday morning after the storms to assess for damages and needs in the areas hit by the devastating tornados.
March 25, 2023
Friends in Christ,
At this time, we join in prayer for all those affected by the storms that crossed our state and for the repose of the soul of those lost to these devastating tornados.
We pray for those who are desperately trying to reach loved ones and unable to reach them, as well as those still seeking safety who are missing as a result of the storms.
We give thanks and pray for first responders, who are working tirelessly in affected communities trying to reach those missing, restore power and assist those surviving.
I encourage all to continue to pray and find ways to support all affected communities. We will be reaching out through our Catholic Charities Disaster Response team to assist in recovery efforts.
Yours in Christ,
+Bishop Joseph R. Kopacz
