Vicar General

The Vicar General serves as assistant to the bishop of the diocese and is Moderator of the Curia. He serves as personnel director for priests, religious, permanent deacons and Lay Ecclesial Ministers. The office provides assistance to parish pastoral councils and coordinates diocesan planning. The office also supervises the response component of the Protection of Children program of the diocese.

By virtue of the office, the Vicar General has the executive power over the whole diocese which belongs to the diocesan bishop by law, namely the power to place all administrative acts, except those, however, which the bishop has reserved to himself or which require a special mandate by the bishop by law. (Canon 479 no. 1)
