You can establish a perpetual trust now or in the future with the Catholic Foundation and leave a legacy that will provide financial support for future generations.  When you establish a trust or add to an existing trust you give a gift with long-term benefits.  These gifts are invested and a portion of the annual income from the investment is used to address immediate needs at parishes, schools, and other ministries that are designated within the trust document. 

You can create a perpetual trust through your will by specifying the beneficiary of your Catholic Foundation perpetual trust, or you can create your trust now.

Donating securities is a wonderful way to support the work of the Foundation and the ministries we serve.  Making a gift of securities is simple and offers a number of financial benefits: You can donate appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds. The total value of the stock upon transfer is tax-deductible. There is no obligation to pay any capital gains taxes on the appreciation.

You may be looking for a way to make a significant difference and further our mission.  If you are 70 ½ or older you may be interested in a way to lower your income taxes from you IRA withdrawals. An IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution is a way you can help to continue our work at the Catholic Foundation.   Benefits of an IRA Charitable Distribution Avoid taxes on transfers up to $105,000 form your IRA to the Catholic Foundation. May satisfy your required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize. Make a gift this is not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts. There is a way for you to support the Catholic Foundation and received fixed income payments for life with a Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA).  You can also qualify for a variety of tax benefits depending on how you fund your gift.  You receive yearly fixed payments and the residuum from the CGA will go to the Catholic Foundation.

If you fund your CGA with cash, you qualify for a federal income tax deduction if you itemize.  Funding your CGA with appreciated securities can minimize your capital gains taxes.

If you are 70.5 years old, you can fund your CGA with a qualified charitable distribution from your retirement account.  You can fund your gift this way up to $53,000.

You can support the Catholic Foundation with a bequest in your Will.  Your bequest can go into a trust and you can name your parish, school, Catholic Foundation, or other ministry that is important to your Catholic faith.

Make a Memorial Gift in memory of your loved one.  The Catholic Foundation will send a memorial card to the family. Please include the following information with your donation. Name of Deceased Name and address of person donating the memorial gift. Name and address of family to be notified of this memorial gift. Name of the trust fund the gift will be placed. Did you know you can request others to make a memorial gifts in lieu of flowers for your loved one? Some families request memorial gifts, by adding the laguage below, at the end of their loved one's published obituary: 

Memorial gifts may be made in liew of flowers for {name of person} to the Catholic Foundation of Jackson for the {name of trust fund}. Please mail your gifts to PO Box 23004, Jackson, MS 39225-9802 or donate online at bit.ly/OnlineMemorialDonations.

Honor a special person or commemorate a special occasion by making a tribute gift. These gift giving occasions can include holidays, anniversaries, or weddings.

The Catholic Foundation will send a card letting the family know that a tribute gift has been in their honor.

Please include the following information with your donation.

• Name of the gift is in honor of.
• Address of the person being honored.
• Name and address of person donating the memorial gift.
• Name of the trust fund the gift will be placed.           

If you have a life insurance policy that is no longer needed for its original purpose, then you can designate the Catholic Foundation as the beneficiary and let us know how you would like us to use your gift.

Since 1973 the Catholic Foundation has helped people around the diocese and has worked with parishioners how to leave a legacy to their Catholic faith.  

Currently the Foundation manages over 400 trusts for parishes, schools, and ministries around the diocese. The Foundation does not charge a management fee to each trusts, which permits each trust to grow.  We do this by having our annual Membership Appeal.
